Duke of Ed Adventurous Journey
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Young Canadians Challenge was founded to encourage personal development and community involvement for young people. This year,17 Study girls challenged themselves to complete the adventurous journey component of thier Bronze or Silver Award requirements.
As one of many challenges, participants must plan and execute a trip in the form of an expedition. This year, the girls planned a three-day, adventurous journey in Mount Orford Provincial Park. They learned how to strike camp, cook meals outdoors, purify water, practice good environmental ethics and efficiently pack for a variety of situations with all their belongings including their tent, in their heavy duty backpacks.
Special thank you to senior school Study teachers who chaperoned, Ms Bowles and Ms. Khattab!
